Several issues must be addressed when decided whether to go back to work, or not. If you enjoy work, it may prove to be beneficial to try and keep your employment, and continue with your normal routine. Maybe benefits and health insurance are motivating factors in keeping employment. However if going back to work creates additional stress, it may be the right choice to move on from your current employment.
If you make the decision to return to work, it is recommended that you talk with your employer about the future. There may be days during treatment when you will be unable to make it. A part time schedule may fit your needs better as well. After verbally making these decisions together, put them in writing and have both parties sign it. This will help reduce misunderstanding later on.
If you encounter discrimination from your employer there is legal protection available to you through the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and the FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act). Access resources available to you, such as your union, or other advocacy groups if you encounter such discrimination.
