At work and at school government agencies have set in place regulations that require employers, and employees to follow several precautions when handling asbestos.

In schools employees are to strictly adhere to the AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act). Congress passed the AHERA act in 1986 after growing concerns of asbestos inhalation brought about protection for both children and school staff. Here are some relevant asbestos related school links:

At work OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) has also outlined required regulations that employees and employers must follow. These regulations help prevent exposure, and make the workplace safer for all staff. More information can be found in the OSHA Fact Sheet - Protecting Employees from Asbestos.
