While searching for legal advise, it is wise to approach hiring a lawyer, the same way you might hire an employee at your work place. Carefully consider, and interview several candidates. Take into consideration litigation experience. What kind of cases have they tried, and won. Don't be afraid to ask them the tough questions. Come prepared with a list of questions important to your case.
After you decide on an attorney, you will be required to sign an agreement with his firm. Don't sign anything until you fully understand the terms of the agreement. You may be responsible for a portion, or all court fees involved in your case. If this fee is waived, make sure you won't be responsible should your case be lost.
If you find that your choice in legal aid has proven wrong, it is not too late. You have the right to fire your attorney, and hire another attorney. Some firms require that you hiring within the same firm. This agreement would be outlined in your contract. Make sure you read through it thoroughly.
